Condensation

What is Condensation?

All air contains water vapour. The amount of vapour air can hold will depend on its temperature - warm, moist air can hold more water vapour than cooler air.

Condensation occurs when this moist air meets a cooler surface. This is because when the air hits a surface cooler than the air itself, the maximum amount of vapour it can hold will reduce. Some of this excess vapour will then condense out into liquid water onto this surface. Regular household activities such as showering, cooking, washing and drying clothes can also contribute to water vapour levels inside the home.

Condensation can occur on surfaces or inside walls, ceilings or floors. This can lead to mould, mildew and decay. If mould spores become airborne indoors this can have a harmful effect on human health.

To combat condensation we offer services such as:

Condensation - Ventilate Your Home

What is a sub floor & what is sub floor ventilation?

Sub floor this is the enclosed space (under or adjacent) between the natural ground and your floor level.

Sub floor ventilation - the process and systems used to to extract damp air from your home in turn allowing fresh, dry air to enter under your floor area areas.

Why might I need ventilation in my home?

Condensation occurs when warm, moist air inside your home comes into contact with cold surfaces, such as windows or walls, and the moisture in the air condenses into water droplets.
Adequate ventilation is important for:
  1. Moisture control
  2. Prevention of mould/mildew
  3. Improving air quality
  4. Preserving the building materials
  5. Energy efficiency
  6. Comfortability
Proper ventilation in your home is essential to prevent condensation and its associated problems.
